Tour guests are asked to fly into Glasgow airport on Sunday, Sept 30.

While the tour does not officially start until the morning of Oct 1, it’d be great if the whole group could get together for some pints and drams at The Bon Accord the night before. We can not think of a better way to kick off the adventure!

The tour officially ends on Saturday, Oct 6, If you need to get back to the US right after the tour, we suggest you look at flights out of Glasgow on Sunday, October 7.

July 22 – 30, 2017 – The Great Islay Swim

“My business partner, Jason, and I have been working on a very special Islay whisky adventure for this summer and we think it might be right up your alley. We’ve been in discussions with two members of New York’s historic Explorer’s Club to sponsor an expedition they’re undertaking on and around Islay this July. The long and the short of it is that they’re planning on swimming around the entire island over the course of one week (July 22-29). This will be the first ever documented swim around the island.

“Each day they will stop at a new distillery and collect whisky to fill a cask they’re taking around the island during their swim. We’ll enjoy full behind the scenes access, be part of a documentary being recorded for National Geographic, and dine on food prepared for us by celebrity chefs. There will also be in depth activities for us to busy ourselves with while they’re swimming (one option is to kayak behind them on one of their legs but a lot of our activities will be whisky centric – there is also a wee jaunt over to the Cadenhead’s warehouse in Campbeltown, via a private yacht, for a very special, personalized tasting).

“At the end of the week Jason and I will be proud owners of the cask of whisky the chaps have collected during their expedition. Each member of our tour will receive one bottle of this insanely collectible whisky. We’re also planning something very special with Scotch Whisky Auctions for the afternoon before Whisky Jewbilee NYC. Anybody who has signed up for the tour will be our guest at this very special tasting in NYC.

“There are a few more details that we’re ironing out with the chaps but we are all very excited for this once in a lifetime adventure. We’ve had 6 people commit so far and you were on my list of cool people/people I’d like to spend a week on Islay with to reach out to. We’re looking to fill ten seats with the cost of each seat set at $6000 which covers all expenses excluding flights and personal purchases.

“Let me know what you think or whether you have any special requests that we can look into fulfilling. Cheers!”
